Fast Backup and Restore
Essential uses two methods,
Adaptive File Backup and
Adaptive Sub-file Backup, to protect your business data
quickly and securely over the internet. Fast backup reduces traffic over the
internet and adds to data security.
Essential backup will complete faster than your tape backup!
Progressive Incremental Backup
Essential uses the intelligent Progressive Incremental
Backup strategy by TSM. Only files that have changed or that are new are backed up, therefore eliminating unnecessary data transfers. Progressive Incremental
Backup does away with the need to do wasteful full backups and full + incremental backups, and gives you faster restores because it only needs to restore the version of the file requested. Progressive Incremental
Backup needs to back up less data, thus saving you Internet bandwidth and management overhead.
Adaptive Subfile Backup
Adaptive Differencing Technology fundamentally changes the way data may be transferred throughout the enterprise. Adaptive Differencing Technology transfers data by byte, block, or file level based on data size. Remote data protection is enhanced with support for adaptive sub-file level backup and encryption of data before it is transmitted over the Internet. With TSM
Progressive Backup Methodology, only files that have
changed are candidates to be backed up, eliminating unnecessary data transfers that rob your network and CPUs of vital power and productivity. With Adaptive Differencing, the backup-archive client dynamically determines the most efficient approach for creating backup copies of changed bytes, changed blocks or changed files, delivering improved backup performance over the Internet connection. With encryption, the backups being sent over the Internet are secure, as are the files being stored on
Essential's electronic vaults.
The following illustrates how the backup operation uses the Progressive Incremental Backup and Adaptive Sub-file Backup to protect your critical data:
